Strange Sighting at AUTEC Base - Andros

Email received from Oscar Garza:

"I lived on the AUTEC Site 1 base from 1979 to 1984 since my Dad was stationed there for Naval duty.

One night I was hanging out at the south beach across from the south jetty on AUTEC with several other kids when something unbelievable happened!!

It was extremely dark that night (no moon). You could not see your hands in front of your face. I was facing away from the beach talking with one of my friends when it happpened. The whole beach lite up as it was day time.

I turned quickly and could see everything in harbor including sailboats, jetties, etc as if it was the middle of the day. Everyone just awed when we saw it racing across the sky. It was a large circular object bright as a little sun. The object appeared to be miles south of base within seconds. The object then broke up into three to four pieces and disappeared. Once again it was pitch black.

I would guess this whole incident happened less than 30 seconds.

I also had a couple other strange things happen near AUTEC during that time frame. If you are interested, please let me know.

Kind Regards,
Oscar "O-man" Garza."

Shape: Oval

I was just casually taking pics of the scenery and didn't notice any planes or birds or anything in the sky when I took the photo from my camera phone. It wasn't until later that I saw the object. It looks rather large in comparison to what you would normally see in the sky from that distance. The pic was taken 4/2/10 at 11:50am EST. I was looking towards a smaller island owned by Sandals Resort in a northeasterly direction towards the Atlantic from Cable Beach, Nassau on New Providence Island. The more I zoomed into the object... it doesn't appear to be in the shape of a normal plane, helicoptor or bird. It takes a oval shaped look, dark and yet I can see a bit of what looks like reflection off a metalic surface ... silver like.

UFO filmed over the Bahamas

Filmed at The Bahamas at approx 1:00pm July 25th 1999.

Checked out of my hotel but my flight was scheduled to leave at 8:00pm so I left most of my video taping for that afternoon.

Looking up at the sky I noticed a vapor trail from a jet. I pointed my video camera at the trail and noticed a silver cylindrical object flying across the sky slowly. I kept my camera on it as it passed through and under the clouds. I thought it could be a balloon but at the height of the clouds could it be visible? The object was cylindrical shaped and spinning and wobbling. It seemed to change shape from cylindrical to square and back a few times.

The clearest shot of this object is when it passed underneath the clouds and the object was black and very detailed and appeared like a top hat at that point.

Lights in the Sky - a UFO above the Bahamas

The night of January 10th, 1985 was truly a night to remember!

Witnesses reactions varied. One sober resident of West Street, was quite overcome, and fell to his knees, praying for salvation when he saw the lights. Others took a more pragmatic view and put them down to Meteorites, or maybe a comet. Others just didn’t know. The lights came from the south west, bisecting the night sky with a spectacular display; a display like nothing witnessed since February 9th, 1913. Then they were called "Cyrillids", after the feast day of St Cyril of Alexandria - the day on which the lights were first seen.

In Nassau though, on that January night, no-one seeing the lights knew of the event witnessed seventy two years earlier from central Canada, and in an arc across the United States as far as the island of Bermuda. When the lights appeared high over Nassau, conversation came to a dead stop, drinks were put aside, and cutlery hastily discarded as people stared incredulously into the sky.
